MAHATMA Peace Symposium 2022 is an initiative of Saroni Roy Foundation (SRf), to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 153rd Birth Anniversary to be held on the 28th of September 2022 at the Parliament of NSW, supported by the Hon. Matt Kean MP, Member for Hornsby, NSW Treasurer and Minister for Energy, in the presence of the Hon. Manish Gupta, Consul General of India.

The Gandhian values of Ahimsa — social action, justice and peace through non-violence — have universal relevance today, inform this Peace Symposium and perfectly align with Saroni Roy Foundation's core principles of ‘Diversity, Sustainability & Social Justice’ to create a more peaceful, more inclusive ‘One World’ to live and love.

In 2022 with the world enduring the ebbs and flows of the pandemic, MAHATMA Peace Symposium 2022 would focus on the Gandhian philosophy/concept of Ahimsa (non-violence) addressing ‘multi-dimensional poverty’ as the worst form of violence, and its articulation in the UN-SDGs. The message of social justice through non-violence is particularly important in these challenging times and we feel that this message will contribute to building community resilience and cohesion. We at SRf, believe that inclusive and peaceful societies lead to prosperous economies.

The Mahatma Peace Symposium 2022 highlights and showcases ‘Australia Celebrating India’s 75 Years of Independence’ – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the AI-ECTA, celebrating and strengthening Australia-India bi-lateral relations & dosti.
